Denny Anderson
Denny Anderson of Grand Rapids, Michigan started out life in November of 1952 and at the age of 22 in 1974 started out on a career in short track auto racing that is still going today in 2024.
Over the years Denny has raced in the Sportsman/Late Model division, NASCAR Late Models, MSPA Late Model Series, The Main Event Series, McCreary Triple Crown Series, UMP Late Model Series, Fascar Late Models, and at the World Series of Stock Car Racing at the New Smyrna, Florida Speedway.
Denny has secured two championships in 1981 with one each at the Ionia and Crystal Speedways (Dirt) and another championship on the pavement of Berlin Raceway in 1984 driving in the Sportsman/Limited Late Model division. He graduated to the Late Model division at Berin in 1985 and was the Rookie of the Year after grinding out a top ten in points against some very stout competition at arguably the toughest short track in the country. 1986 saw Denny race weekly with the traveling MSPA Wednesday night races and secured the title of MSPA Rookie of the Year.
Over the years Denny has shown his versatility by securing many top ten points finishes at the Crystal Raceway (Dirt), 1987 - 1989 and at the Owosso Speedway (Pavement)1988 & 1989. With Berlin Raceway being Denny’s home track, he has secured many feature wins at the tricky race track over the years as well as being named Driver of the Year in 2009 and Most Popular Driver in 2009 and 2011 at his home track of Berlin. While Denny has had some years that he raced a limited schedule, He always managed to get to the track and secure a few more feature wins along the way.
Denny has been a mainstay in Michigan Short Track racing since 1974 and continues his hard charging chase for that elusive checkered flag that all racers chase. Denny is also the father of the Late Lee Anderson, who in his own right was a tremendous racer and car builder which showed that the apple didn’t fall far from the tree.
