Richard "Dick" Myers
Richard “Dick Myers was born in July 1955 in Burlington Vermont where he completed his education with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from the University of Vermont in 1977. From then on, Dick began a lifetime of impacting motorsports.
Myers moved to the Detroit area in 1978 taking a position with the Ford Motor Company as part of their transmission engineering team until 1082, when he took a position with the Chrysler Corporation where he worked to develop such vehicles as the Plymouth Prowler, Dodge Viper and the performance vehicles built off of the Challenger, Charger, and Jeep Cherokee platforms. At one time, Myers was the Program Manager of the Viper GTS-R program that secured victories in 44 International Road Racing events including three consecutive wins at the 24 hours of Lemans, a win at the 12 hours of Sebring, The Petite Lemans at Road Atlanta, and a overall win at the Rolex 24 Hours of Daytona. Dick retired from Chrysler on December 31, 2023.
It was Dick’s mechanical prowess and ability that saw him develop into a winning driver, car owner, and set-up guru. He operated Teal 10 Racing from 1975 -1987 and in 1977 received the Nascar North Sportsmanship Award.
Over the years, Dick won the 24 races in the Mini-Stock/Mini Modified division and earned the 1983 Track Championship for mini mods and the now closed Mt. Clemens Race Track along with being the Super Compacts National Champion at the now closed Queen City Speedway in 1985.
Dick dabbled in other forms of motorsports including ARCA, All-American, and the USAC National Midget Series with two fifth place points finishes in the ARCA National Midget Series. By 2003, Dick’s cars were regular contenders in the ARCA and NAMARS Midget series with his team winning 20 feature events, 13 pole positions and three track records with drivers such as Brad Hullings, Bill Tyler, Mike Fedorcak, Larry Gibson, Ryan Newman, and Johnny Parsons.
By the mid 2000’s Dick became heavily involved with the 410 pavement Sprint Cars where he has met with much success winning two championships each in the Auto Value Super Sprints and the Must See Racing Series along with setting 15 track records, winning 48 feature races and grabbing the pole position 70 times with top notch drivers like Cameron Dodson, Jason Blonde, Brian Gerster, Charlie Schultz, Lee Boss, Larry Gibson, and both Tanner and Kody Swanson.
Myers clients through RAM Engineering providing performance shocks and chassis services have won over 1000 feature races and 125 championships collectively. In addition to that, Myers was honored with the Michigan Auto Racing Fan Club “Eddie Sachs Jr.” Lifetime Achievement Award in 2024.
